Dr. Elizabeth Arthur graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003 and pursued extensive surgical training during the subsequent five years. She accomplished one-year internships in both general medicine & surgery and small animal surgery at two distinguished hospitals, The Animal Medical Center and Gulf Coast Veterinary Surgery, before moving to Maryland in 2005. Following completion of her three year residency in small animal surgery with Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists, Dr. Arthur spent two years in Gaithersburg as a member of the surgical team at Veterinary Referral Associates.
Dr. Arthur is an active member of the Maryland veterinary community, speaking regularly at conferences and CE events. Her areas of interest include general orthopedics and soft tissue surgery, with specific focus on oncologic surgery as well as treatment of cruciate ligament injuries and other disorders of the knee. Dr. Arthur’s meticulous surgical skill is complemented by a longstanding emphasis on pain management, and she has been a member of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management since 2005. Ensuring patient comfort is inherent in Dr. Arthur’s practice and is vital to our ability to provide referral quality surgical care.
Dr. Arthur’s warmth and compassion reflect her lifelong goal to be a veterinarian. She is originally from Missouri and attended the University of Missouri as an undergraduate, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biology magna cum laude with honors, prior to veterinary school. Go Mizzou!
